Oh my goodness! Lookie what I found! So exciting! It’s like, the most adorable thing ever! I just HAVE to share with all of you my foodie friends!
Walt Disney Castle Dream Cake
Okay, so picture this: We’re making a cake. But not just *any* cake. We’re making a cake that’s inspired by the magic of Disney! It’s going to be a feast for the eyes AND the tummy! Think enchanting castles, sparkling sprinkles, and the sweetest flavors imaginable. This isn’t just a dessert; it’s a whole experience! Just like the cartoons, we’ll make it pretty enough for the children to scream about!
### Ingredients:
- For the Cake: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (make sure it’s sifted! So fluffy!), 2 cups granulated sugar (for sweetness, duh!), 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (richness!), 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder (lift!), 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda (more lift!), 1 teaspoon salt (balance!), 1 cup buttermilk (tang!), 1/2 cup vegetable oil (moisture!), 2 large eggs (binding!), 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (flavor!), 1 cup boiling water (secret ingredient!).
- For the Buttercream Frosting: 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened (room temp is KEY!), 3 cups powdered sugar (so smooth!), 1/4 cup milk (consistency!), 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (more flavor!), gel food coloring (for those magical Disney colors! Pink, blue, purple… the possibilities!).
- For the Decoration: Sprinkles (so sparkly!), edible glitter (extra sparkly!), fondant (for making castle turrets!), ice cream cones (castle turrets!), candy melts (for attaching turrets!), your imagination!
Instructions:
- Bake the Cake: First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Slowly pour in the boiling water and mix until smooth. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before inverting them onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make the Buttercream Frosting: While the cakes are cooling, make the buttercream frosting. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Add the milk and vanilla extract and beat until well combined. Divide the frosting into several bowls and tint each bowl with a different color of gel food coloring.
- Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes are completely cool, level them with a serrated knife if necessary. Place one cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread a generous layer of frosting over the top. Place the second cake layer on top of the frosting. Frost the entire cake with a crumb coat (a thin layer of frosting to seal in the crumbs). Refrigerate the cake for 30 minutes to allow the crumb coat to set.
- Decorate the Cake: Frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting. Use a piping bag fitted with a star tip to pipe swirls and rosettes around the top and bottom of the cake. Now comes the fun part! Use the fondant to create small castle turrets and attach them to inverted ice cream cones using melted candy melts. Arrange the ice cream cone turrets around the top of the cake to resemble the Disney castle. Sprinkle the cake with sprinkles and edible glitter. Let your imagination run wild! The more sparkle, the better!
- Enjoy! Slice, serve, and prepare for smiles! Everyone will think you bought this from the store! Don’t forget to take a picture for instagram.
Isn’t that just the cutest thing ever? This cake is perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or just because! It’s a little bit of Disney magic in every bite! I hope you all enjoy making it as much as I do! Don’t forget to share your creations with me! I can’t wait to see them!
